Robert K. Stewert, 88, of Temperance, died Sunday, September 3, 2017.
Born September 9, 1928, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Kenneth and Esther (La Vigne) Stewart.
Bob was a plumber and a proud member of UA Local #50 for 68 years. He loved to hunt, especially pheasants and rabbits, behind one of his German shorthaired pointers. But his true love was his horses. He got his first horse at the age of 14 and had them up until he was unable to ride. He roped calves at rodeos in MI, OH and IN, until he was 50 years old. He then raced Quarter Horses as an owner and trainer. Then in later years, trail riding with friends, several times crossing the state of Michigan. The last few years of trail rides, he rode mules.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marcella Stewart; son, Rick (Sandra) Stewart; sister, Carol Etue; grandchildren, Rick (Julie) Stewart, Lori (Jonnie) Parker and Mike (Jesica Mendoza) Stewart; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI, with funeral services held at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions to the Progeria Research Foundation in honor of his step-great-granddaughter, Carley Kudzia would be greatly appreciated.
